Extended Hours

Saturday and early morning appointments are being provided at The Swan Surgery, Petersfield.  If you work in core surgery opening times you will now have access to nursing as well as GP appointments outside normal surgery opening hours.  Please ask at reception for more information.

There are also GP Hubs at Waterlooville, Petersfield, Fareham, Bordon and Gosport that will provide GP and nursing appointments Monday to Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.  Our receptionists can book you an appointment at these hubs or you can ring '111' when we are closed.

When We Are Closed

Telephone: 111

If you need to speak to a doctor urgently outside opening hours, telephone the out of hour’s service on 111. Depending on the nature of the problem, the NHS111 Service will either give advice, arrange for you to come to an "out of hours" centre, or arrange a home visit.

Please

  • Remember this should be reserved for genuine emergencies only and that most of the doctors are local GPs who have to work the following day.
  • Note that the "out of hours centre" is not a drop in casualty service.

Accident and Emergencies

There are casualty facilities at the following hospitals:

  • Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham
  • Richard's Hospital, Chichester

For minor injuries facilities are available at St Mary's Treatment Centre Portsmouth and Petersfield Hospital.

Injuries sustained longer than 48 hours ago should be seen by your doctor first.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

NHS 111 Online

111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally.

Your needs will be assessed and you will be given advice about whether you need:

  • Treat yourself at home
  • Go to a Primary Care Centre

If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
